Class activities

Games

Built for a projector and a room split into two teams. Nothing to install, nothing to log into, no phones out — one screen at the front, driven by the teacher.

Matchy Matchy

Answer the question. Earn two flips. Match the cards, and your hiker climbs. First team to the water wins.

Open the game →

Opens in its own window with no menu, no header and no footer — just the board. Better on a projector, and nothing for a student to click away to.

How it runs

  1. Split the class into a red team and a blue team. Each has its own hill down the side of the screen, so the lead is visible from the back of the room.
  2. A question comes up and the clock starts. The team talks it out.
  3. They give their answer out loud. Tap Reveal.
  4. The class judges it. Tap Right or Wrong.
  5. Right earns two flips on the board. A matching pair scores a point and the hiker moves up the hill. Wrong earns nothing.
  6. Either way the turn passes, and the next question comes up.

Why a hill

Because it is the year's theme doing the scoring. A thirsty hiker, a water station at the top, and two verses of Isaiah — Isaiah 12:3–4. The points are steps up the climb, and the prize at the top is the water. See the theme →

Running it in class

Set the team names and the clock on the first screen, then hit Start game. Full screen drops even the thin title bar. On an iPad, take the device off silent first — the ringer switch mutes the clock music in Safari.

Keyboard, if one is attached: space reveals, R marks it right, W marks it wrong.
