If we sincerely repent, Jesus Christ will cleanse us from our sins.

What the lesson is for

Help students trust that Christ can cleanse them however deep the stain, and sharpen their ability to spot the harmful thing that is dressed up as good.

TWO MANUAL LESSONS IN ONE BLOCK (114 and 115) — do not try to teach both fully. Isaiah 1:18 is the DOCTRINAL MASTERY passage and gets the weight; Isaiah 5:20 is the back half and can run short if time goes. SUPPLIES: a genuinely stained piece of clothing to hold up, or the manual's image. TEACH PARALLELISM on Card 0 — 'Hear, O heavens' / 'give ear, O earth' (1:2) — it is the single most useful tool for the whole Isaiah unit and they will reuse it every day for three weeks. Isaiah's ox-and-donkey image in 1:3: the animals know their master, Israel did not. SCARLET: Sister Sharon Eubank's point is the one that lands — scarlet dye was colorfast, it did NOT wash out, and Satan uses that logic like a club; the miracle is that Christ's blood returns us to white anyway. Have them mark 1:18 distinctively. If the room is quiet on the reflection prompt, do not fill the silence. The Isaiah 5 half opens with Elder Bednar's camouflaged cheetah — write their examples of 'beguiling bad' on the board and come back to them.
