Proverbs 3 — "Trust in the Lord"

If we trust in the Lord with all our heart, He will direct our paths.
What the lesson is for
Help students memorize Proverbs 3:5–6 and name one real situation where they will trust the Lord's counsel over their own judgment this week.

Proverbs 3:1–12, and Isaiah 55:8–9
Verses 5 and 6 are a Doctrinal Mastery passage — mark them so you can find them fast. What exactly are we asked to do, and what exactly is promised in return?

Supplies, board work and timing. Never printed on the cards.
SUPPLIES: a sturdy wall or door frame. Two volunteers stand three feet from it — one leans toward it for support, one leans away until they lose balance. Run that before Card 3; it is the whole lesson in ten seconds. DOCTRINAL MASTERY: Proverbs 3:5–6. Key scripture phrase, exactly: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; … and he shall direct thy paths." Have them mark it distinctively. Lesson 106 (Doctrinal Mastery Practice 7) was about memorizing key phrases — call back to it and use the same method today. BOARD: write "Trust," collect the qualities that make a person trustworthy, and at the end of class ask which of those qualities the Lord demonstrates. Optional video: "Trust in the Lord" (3:30).
Journal prompt
The last five minutes. Card 3 hands into this.
Write the situation where you currently trust your own judgment more than the Lord's counsel. Then write what you learned about Him today that makes Him worth trusting, and name one specific thing you will do His way this week. Finish by writing out Proverbs 3:5–6 from memory.
